Columbiettes Auxiliary
Our Lady of the Rosary Council #9039
Shallottte, N.C.  28459
Our Auxiliary was instituted on
February 28, 2009 when l7 new
members joined three transfer
sisters with a ceremony at St.
Brendan the Navigator Church in
Shallotte, NC to receive their first
and major degrees.

Since then our numbers have
grown.  We have supported the
Knights with their LAMB Drive, a
Halloween Party for the children,
marched with the Knights in the
Christmas Parade, and collected
socks for their Sock Drive.  Our
Auxiliary sponsored two Card Parties
with the proceeds going to Charities
along with adopting a family for
Christmas.  We celebrated our first
Anniversary by attending 8AM Mass
together followed by breakfast at
Tamers Restaurant in Ocean Ridge.
The Columbiettes were founded in 1939 by Monsignor J. Francis
McIntyre, as a ladies' organization to work with the Knights of Columbus.
On March 2, 1939 the first Columbiettes were instituted in New York City.

OFFICERS
The Columbiettes are formed with the approval of the Knights of
Columbus Council with which it is affiliated.  We stand ready at all times to
assist them when needed.

The Columbiettes are ordinary ladies who are proud of reaching out and
helping those less fortunate by meeting the needs of the people in their
communities and around the world.

The Columbiettes are a growing and vibrant service organization of
Catholic ladies who are willing to make a difference in today’s society.
We boldly choose to take a strong stand on issues that are devastating to
human life.

By conducting a variety of programs we are bringing Columbiettes
together as they can strengthen their bond of friendship within the
Organization.  The benefits from membership are many – spiritual, moral,
educational and social.

As a Columbiette you can allocate your time as your daily schedule
permits.  To maximize your enjoyment and personal contributions, there
are no specific requirements or amount of time to spend within the
Organization.  Everyone in the Organization participates at whatever
level of commitment that makes her comfortable.

With your time, special skills or talent we offer you the opportunity to give
back something to your Community as well as your Parish.
Any practicing Catholic women ages seventeen and up may join the
Columbiettes.  You do not have to be married to a member of the Knights
of Columbus.  You can be married, single or widowed.

For Information on joining our Auxiliary please contact our President
Betsy Melanson. If you use email: please use “COLUMBIETTES” in the
subject.
Meetings are the second Thursday of the month at 7:00pm at St. Brendan
the Navigator Catholic Church.  Meetings are not held in July and August.
